Electrical Characteristic Explanation

 

The capacity of fuses for carrying current are tested at 25℃ and will be affected by ambient temperature changed.The fuse operated in higher the ambient temperature;the life of the fuse will be reduced.Conversely,operating at a lower temperature wil extend the life of fuse. 

 

1)NORMAL CURRENT CONDITION

UL type fuse:

R.M.S current/(temp.factor) x UL margin(0.75 fixed)

IEC type fuses:

Max.current de-rating of fuse(In)

= measured rms current/(temp.factorx IEC margin(0.9 fixed))

 

2)BREAKING CAPACITY

 

A fuse will be safely interrupt in the maximum current and the maximum rated voltage(include less than maximum rated) then the appearance of fuse will not be changed.

 

3)VOLTAGE RATING


Using exceed the voltage rating of the fuse in circuit will reduce ability of the fuse for clearing overload current safely.For example, fuse 250V voltage rating can be used in less than 250V circuits.

 

4)AMPERE SQUARE SECONDS, I2t

 

Ii is the measure of heat energy developed within a circuit during the fuse's clearing.It can be expressed as "melting I2t ""arcing " or the sum of them as " Clearing "."I" stands for effective let-through current(RMS),which is squared, and "t" means melting time(seconds).
