Description

 

The varistors consist of a disc of low-b ZnO ceramic material with two solid copper leads (S20 types only) or copper clad steel wire. The wires have a matte tin plating. They are coated with a layer of ocher colored halogen-free epoxy, which provides electrical, mechanical and climatic protection. The encapsulation is resistant to all cleaning solvents in accordance with IEC 60068-2-45.

 

The 53D series radial leaded varistors provides an ideal circuitprotection solution for lower DC voltage applications by offeringhigher surge ratings than ever before available in such smalldiscs.The maximum peak surge current rating can reach up to 70KA(8/20 μs pulse) to protect against high peak surges, includingindirect lightning strike interference, system switching transientsand abnormal fast transients from the power source.

• Diameter and thickness is controlell effectively within the design scale.
• Peak current is reached the world leading level. It can afford 8/20us impulse, peak current Imax 40kA punch 2 times.
• Thermal stability. Soldering thermal cutoff member with 145 degree, the cutoff time is no less than 5 senconds under 1A current; the cutoff time is 3-5 seconds under 1.5A current.

MOUNTING


The varistors are suitable for processing on automatic insertion and cutting and bending equipment.
Varistors with flanged leads provide better positioning on printed-circuit boards (PCB) and more accurate control over component height. This is important for hand mounting and automatic insertion techniques; see outlines of flanged leads drawing.
